Fortune Magazine - It's Time To Buy Again

Shawn Tully, Senior Editor-At-Large for Fortune Magazine suggests the housing market is back in a recent Fortune Magazine article . He cites two factors that are shaping the real estate market up for recovery - a historic drop in new construction and a steep decline in pricing. Both new construction and pricing have been low due to demand, but Tully suggests this is about to change as the economy and consumer confidence get back to normal levels. Many renters are being lured into the market as the cost of buying has become more appealing; the cost of renting a home can be more than the mortgage would be for the same home. Non-distressed markets, such as the Breckenridge, have a reduced inventory of homes for sale. A modest increase in demand would mean prices will start to shift upward. 2010 Real Estate Recap Local real estate in 2010 proved to be a year of rebuilding and gathering strength for real estate in Breckenridge. Our market made great strides over 2009 with significant sales volume increases in Single Family Homes, Condos and Land as well as a reduction in existing inventory overall. Breckenridge Associates Real Estate was the top performing office in Breckenridge sales transactions for the year. We represented a combination of 110 listing and selling sides in Breckenridge, or 13% of the 816 total sales sides for the year. 2011 1st Quarter Real Estate Sales Transactions & Volume The first quarter of 2011 has shown continued upward momentum in Breckenridge real estate when compared to the first three months of 2010. At the close of the quarter, sales transactions were up more than 33% over the same time frame last year and nearly tripled from the first quarter of 2009.
