International Snow Sculpting Championships – Results & Photos

We can hardly believe another year of snow sculpting has come and gone. What fun was had and the level of talent continues to amaze all of us! The artists worked tirelessly for 65 hours to create original masterpieces from 20-ton blocks of snow (like the one below).

Here's what each sculpting team has to work with - a 20-ton block of snow!

This year’s event featured a wealth of talent – nearly every team had received a medal in competition prior to the ISSC. The final sculptures were some of the best we’ve seen, thus raising the bar again! As you can see there were plenty of spectators checking out the final sculptures during the viewing week.

We are truly proud to be a part of this event. Our fellow Brokers and Partners, Rob Neyland, Ron Shelton and Tom Day, worked on a sculpture showcasing this year’s new sponsor, Cadillac, by creating an interactive piece with a Cadillac race track running through it.

Team Canada-Quebec took home the Gold at the 22nd annual International Snow Sculpting Championships (ISSC) in Breckenridge in January. The winning team executed “Great Expectations” with perfection. The sculpture was a depiction of the ice houses once used to preserve meats and seafood on the Saint Anne River in Quebec. Team Canada-Quebec also went home with the People’s Choice Award.

Team Germany took home the Silver with “Dancing Screens”, an amazingly intricate piece depicting harmony and an imbalance of angles.

Team Baltic (Latvia-Estonia) was awarded with the Bronze with “Discover the Edge of the World”. The concept suggests that anything’s possible in the world, only our minds hold us back and limit our actions.

Kids' Choice was awarded to Team Alaska with “Deadliest Catch: Calamari’s Revenge”, a playful creation of the Octopus turning the tables on the fishing boat.
