Did You Know? Winter Roof Maintenance

Snow and ice can wreak havoc on roofs in our extreme winter climate if not properly maintained. Snow accumulation as we’ve experienced already this season causes heavy snow loads on rooftops, which can lead to leaking and result in an unplanned home repair. Poorly installed or malfunctioning roof heating elements can result in ice dams, which also require immediate attention to prevent damage to your home. You can avoid these scenarios by hiring a company to help to keep your property’s roof in shape during the winter season, whether as a one time evaluation and solution of a problem or contracted monthly throughout the winter months. Heating elements, such as heat tape, need to be strategically applied to the roof and vary from home to home due to architecture, where the sun faces the property among other factors. Ma Greene, a long time local snow and ice removal company, will evaluate and troubleshoot the home before recommending the best solution to address removal. We want you

The Secret Stash – Illuminating Snow Art In Breckenridge

January 25, 2011 marks the start of the International Snow Sculpting Championships in Breckenridge. Snow artists will spend 65 hours carving 20-ton blocks of snow into awe-inspiring masterpieces. The artists come from throughout the country, around the world and even hailing from our own Breckenridge Associates Real Estate office with the event’s original team. The 16 teams will compete to produce impeccable works of snow art for the public to view and ponder the impossibility of many of the creations. New this year, the event will be cast under a LED-lighting display, illuminating the sculptures and giving a new perspective to the event. We highly recommend checking out the snow sculptures in the evenings throughout the event for the opportunity to see the creations in a whole new light. Sculpting begins January 25 at 11am and ends January 29 at 10am. The Award Ceremony takes place January 30 at 3:30pm. Public viewing of the sculptures is January 30-February 6, weather permitting.

To all, Happy New Year!! May 2011 be filled with Good Health, Joy, and More Peace around the World. While we are still concerned about the overall state of the economy, 2010 was better than 2009 regarding real estate here in Breckenridge, Summit County, and other resort areas such as Aspen and Vail. We knew that the number of sales in Breckenridge and Summit County had increased over 2009,but it felt like the dollar volume was lower due to the average sales prices declining. It appears that dollar volume has increased over 2009, and all indicators show that this trend may continue.
