Breck Snowflake Challenge Returns December 9-16

The 4th annual Breckenridge Snowflake Challenge brings snow sculpting back to its roots and onto the streets of downtown Breckenridge this December as a fun kick-off and warm-up to the International Snow Sculpting Championships event late January. Sculpting sites throughout Main Street and downtown Breckenridge truly come to life over the course of the competition with amazing creations, adding to the beauty and surroundings of our perfect mountain town. The Breck Snowflake Challenge is produced by Breckenridge Associates Real Estate and the founders of Breckenridge’s International Snow Sculpture Championships as a means to develop a new generation of snow artists. Last year, “Team Breck” from the Breck Snowflake Challenge, went on to compete and place 3rd in the International Snow Sculpting Championships! View Breck Snowflake Challenge masterpieces from last year's Challenge here. 

Local artists don’t need to have prior snow sculpting experience to enter. Deadline for entry is December 8, competition begins December 9 and judging culminates December 16. Participants should view registration details at www.BreckSnowflakeChallenge.com. Or, call our office at 970.453.2200.

Visitors must check out the sculpting creations from our local artists after the competition kicks off Dec. 9 with completed sculptures December 16 and the following days after (as long as colder temps cooperate). A site map will be available at the Breckenridge Welcome Center.

Local Real Estate Statistics: October 2013 versus October 2012

Fall was another great month for real estate here in Summit County and Breckenridge. Breckenridge Statistics In Breckenridge, fall time was still showing momentum for the real estate market.  There were 22 single family homes sold in the month of October.  At the end of October, the single family market was up almost 12% compared to the same time as last year.  The condo market has been doing fantastic this year.  In the month of October, 38 condos sold in Breckenridge.  The condo market is ahead almost 50% compared to last year.  Three duplexes and 9 townhomes sold last month compared to only 5 duplexes and 4 townhomes in October 2012.  As of November 7th, there were 88 pending residential properties in Breckenridge.  Although the number of transactions and dollar volume are increasing year over year, the average sales price continue to remain steady or in some cases, decline.  At the end of October, the average sales price for a condo in Breckenridge is remaining stable at 4.35%
