Breckenridge Ski Resort: Peak 6 Expansion Approved By Forest Service

The Forest Service approved Alternative 2 of the Breckenridge Ski Resort’s (BSR) Peak 6 Expansion plan in August. The selected alternative includes approximately 550 acres of lift-served and hike-to skiing, two new chairlifts, a ski patrol/warming hut and a restroom facility. Conservation measures and project design criteria are required as part of the approved plan. It is likely the expansion won’t fully come to fruition until the 2014-2015 ski season with the potential of work beginning as early as this fall.

The seven year review process has involved extensive involvement from the community.  After reviews and appeals, Alternative 2 of the plan may move forward. The Peak 6 Expansion plan is currently under a 45-day appeal period. The official decision and implementation of the project may occur at the close of the appeal period if no appeals are made.
